Located next to the river Serpis, Gaianes proudly shows its vestiges of Muslim origin and treasures the old lagoon of La Albufera, recovered in 2004 as Protected Natural Space, which represents a rich natural heritage for the municipality.
The Benicadell mountain range is protected by the Generalitat Valenciana as a Protected Landscape, with 1,104 meters. It stretches along some twenty-five kilometers.
La Albufera, is an endorheic lagoon. Its existence is documented already at the beginning of the fifteenth century. The Mudejar people, by means of a careful drainage system, dried it.
It is a natural space for biodiversity of flora and fauna.
